I woke up today to a frosty morning in London. We live in a home from 1850-80s and surprisingly enough, the windows have not been taken into consideration to be upgraded over the last 150 years. Waking up to a frosty morning can therefore be somewhat interesting.
Since we are somewhat faced with living in a cold flat this time of the year – do we have a perfect excuse to upgrade on making it cozy in the living room in the evenings. Here are my recommendations to survive a winter in a single glass window flat with a few quality items.
1. The Mulberry Ancient Tartan Lambswool Blanket
The best way to keep warm, is to have a proper wool blanket and this blanket from Mulberry fits the role well. It’s made of 100% lambswool and has a rustic colour combination. If you take well care of this blanket, you will have a blanket for decades to come. It’s also a great way to liven up you sofa if most of your furniture are in plain/natural colour. It gives an instant warmth and style to the room.
2. Glass and Wood Lantern from Nkuku
To bring some warm colours to a room, is light from a flame a great way. I really like these lanterns from Nkuku since they remind me both of England in it’s shape and of Scandinavia in it’s simplicity. This is a lantern you can use both indoor and outdoor and will look really well positioned on a coffee table.
3. Cashmere Bed Socks from from the White Company
To snuggle up in the sofa, is the best way to do it with some Cashmere Socks. These cashmere socks feels so soft on your feet and is the perfect way to end a bath or a foot bath. Since they are made of 100% Cashmere are they easy to ruin, so be careful to only use them when your feet are up and you are ready to relax.
4. Winterberry Porcelain Tea of Emma Bridgewater.
This English made teapot is really a great way to bring in some classic pieces to your collection. With it’s red and green colours does it have enough spirit to remind us of Christmas and joy. The teapot holds 4 mugs of tea, so perfect for an evening of 2.
This collection also has small and large mugs. I like the small ones best and you can find them here
5. Luxury Hot Chocolate by Whittard
There’s nothing more that can bring my back to my childhood as Hot Chocolate can. I remember my Grandmother always served Hot Chocolate around Christmas times when we came for a visit (serving it in a Chocolate Pot).
This Hot Chocolate from Whittard is the perfect way of forgetting the cold. It has a smoothness and a richness that makes it worth the extra money. My favourite tip is to add wiped cream on top.. mmm… can it get any better?
What are your ways of making it cozy when it’s frosty outside? I would love to hear your ideas.
