It’s only 2 weeks to our move back to Norway, believe it or not. My mind has started preparing for entering into my old flat in Oslo and what to expect for the coming year. It’s been 2 1/2 years since I saw my flat last time, but I remembered it pretty clearly. Because it contains basically one colour, white. Everything is white with wooden details. Can it get more Scandinavian? But my years in UK have impacted my mood board for my old flat. Basically, it needs more character and more colour.
Love this chair from Neptune.
The last thing that I added to the flat before I left Norway, I installed a kitchen island with bar chairs – of course also in white. But coming back, do I want to do something with those bar chairs. But what do you need consider when you are thinking about new bar chairs to the kitchen?

Hight and distance. It’s important to remember that bar stool has different heights. Normally, kitchen islands hight needs a bit of a shorter bar stool than a normal bar stool that you can find in a pub or a restaurant. Usually, a kitchen island hight normally is between 88-93 cm and a good seat should be around 58-71cm from the floor to the seat. You should also estimate around 15 cm between between each chair to have enough space for each person.
Size. The size of the chair should be based on the size of the room. If you have a large room or kitchen will large bar chairs work, but if your room is smaller – be more careful with the size on the chair.

Materials. When it comes to materials, consider materials that works with the surroundings. What is the vibe you are trying to achieve with the room? Do you want it to be relaxed or modern? Also think about the wear of the chair – how much will it be used and by who? If you do not have other seating areas in your home, I would recommend to have a proper back. This has a lot to say regarding how long you are able to comfortable sit on the chair.
