Are you looking for the latest ideas to create an amazing bedroom you will love? From small bedroom spaces that barley fits a bed to large rooms that are difficult to know what to fill the room with, here you will find the best ideas to make the bedroom beautiful and fully be your space where you can relax after a long day.
In many ways, the bedroom is the most important room in your home. It’s probably the room you are going to spend the most time in. It’s a room that should feel like a safe haven from the stress and worries that might have happen throughout the day.
But sometimes it can be difficult to know what will make a bedroom enjoyable to spend time in and be a retreat you will look forward after a long day. I’ve therefore collected my favorite ideas for the bedroom to inspire you to make the bedroom of your dreams.
1. Soft colors and Nature
I really love bedroom with soft colors like creams and pastels. Colors can really have a lot to say in how you experience a room. Adding soft colors to a bedroom can support in making the room feel smooth. I also love the added a tree to the bedroom. It’s like it’s a modern take on the bedroom in Tolkien’s Rivendell. Definitely a space you would be able to relax.
2. Add items with value
Bedroom are definitely a room that should be extra personal. It’s the room in a home where you spend the most time and where not many other enters. I therefore love bedrooms that have a lot of small personal details added to them. It can be something you have inherited, or something from a holiday or pictures of your family. Basically any items that means a lot to you.
3. Using colors from Nature
Another way of creating a calming atmosphere is to use earthly colors. Nature really is an extraordinary force and has the effect on me to make me calm down and reflect. I’m always more relaxed when I am in nature. It’s like I belong there. Adding items and colors that are close to nature can have some of the same relaxing effects as being in nature. It’s therefore a brilliant idea to add to a bedroom.
4. French Pink
I do love a girly bedroom with whites and pinks in a french interior style bedroom with a minimalist twist is every teenage girls (and romantic woman) dream. I love the mix of casual and strict with the picture frames leaning against the wall and the rococo gold mirror. This makes the room seem playful and fun.
5. Light and Airy Bedroom
Another way to create a calming bedroom is to limit the amount of colors and focus on whites. This modern bedroom is a great example of this. Instead of getting the warmth from colors and a lot of items, has this bedroom warmth from the usage of different textures. Pay for example attention to that they have rugs on top of each other.
6. Grey and White calmness
I really love the mix between grey and white in a bedroom. Gray is a cool color and can be great to have in a bedroom if you enjoy having it cool when you sleep. But you can also add it with some warmth, like beige colors as showed in this picture. If you want to mix two colors in this way, try to spread them evenly out in different parts of the room.
7. Relaxed Whites in the Bedroom
Another great way to make a bedroom come together (especially if you are on a budget) is to add only white to the room. Keeping a room in a monochromatic color is always a great trick to make a home look more put together. This also removes a lot of difficult thought processes and decision making.
8. Inspired by other cultures
Bedroom is a room that you have the opportunity to really put your mark on, and why not add your mark with items that you really like from other cultures. The green and red color are contrast colors and a good idea to use if you want the colors to play of each other and “pop” like they do in this picture. Please also pay attention to the balance in the greens that are evenly spread out and makes the room look symmetric to the eye.
9. Minimal Bohemian Bedroom
Another great way to make a bedroom look amazing on a budget is to do it in a minimalistic bohemian style. Bohemian items like wicka baskets and knitted blankets are items that are easy to find in stores like IKEA if you need to stay on a budget. You just need to add some fairy lights for the correct ambiance and that’s it.
10. Feminine Pink Bedroom
Another way to style a bedroom if you are on a budget is in a feminine pink style. Start with adding core items like the bed in white and then add smaller items like blankets and pillows in soft and muted pinks. A really easy look for a girly bedroom. I also like the modern looking chandelier that brings that delivers a bit of glam to the room.
11. Traditional Bedroom in White and Blue
Not everything needs to be new and modern to make a bedroom appear put together and look amazing. This example with an old four poster bed decorated in creams and blues are a great way to make a great bedroom, even with old furniture. The light and airy fabric lifts the look of the dark wooden bed and creates a balance to a room.
12. A Laura Ashley Inspired Bedroom
There is something so timeless with the 1980s and 1990s Laura Ashley style. Patterns, frills, lots of fabric – the more the better. Even though the world has gone more minimalistic over the last 20 years, I still do enjoy the warmth of a bedroom in a Laura Ashley 80s style. Definitely a place I could spend my entire day in. But it will cost time and effort to put it together.
13. Mixing Traditional with Modern colors
One of my favorite things to do when it comes to decorations is to mix old and new items and make it work. This bedroom from Ballard Designs is a great example of this. The old and heavy traditional furniture is mixed with items in pastel that has a nod to the past. The old and dark furniture is also evenly balanced out in the room. Spreading out vintage items in a room is key to make the room feel put together. Make sure that they have enough room around them to be able to ‘breathe’.
14. Floral Pink Bedroom
Pink is one of my favorite colors for the bedroom since it brings a lot of warmth to a room. A bedroom can really be amazing in pink and can be combined with other pastels or neutrals. If you dare to be a bit bold, try combining it with green which it’s the contrast color to pink.
15. A bedroom with heirlooms
I think the most beautiful bedrooms are the bedroom that are personal to the person sleeping in it. It should be a room to cherish memories and create new dreams. Adding heirlooms to a bedroom can really make your space unique to you. It can be furniture like a vanity or a chair. Or it can also be a picture frame or art.
16. Traditional Bedroom in Green, Blue and White
The combination of green, blue and white is not something you see a lot of in bedrooms. But it can be a winning combination if you want something fresh that gives a nod to nature and gardens. When combining these colors, it’s important that you spread them evenly out in a room to create balance to the eye. Use the whites to create a space between the colors.
17. Cosy Coastal Bedroom
I really love combining patterns when decorating a room. Adding different patterns creates depth to the look of a home and can look really great if you use different fabrics and textures on the items as well. Try to find something in the pattern that the different patterns have in common. It can be a color or a shape. In this picture you can see that the three bed covers goes from having blues in common to having square pattern in common.
18. A Bedroom with a Library
One of the best places to enjoy a book is in bed, so if you do not have room for a library in your home, why not add the library to your bedroom? This idea of a bookshelf wall in a bedroom from House Beautiful is a great example of how to make a bedroom stand out for a person that loves to read.
19. Minimal with Traditional Details
But in the end, you don’t need to add a lot of items to actually make a bedroom look really amazing. The key is that the items you add tells a story and has some kind of thought behind them that brings the room together. The final picture is a great example of how a few items in traditional styles with white and blue bedding is always a trusted winner. It can be that simple.
