It’s the weekend before Christmas and finally time to start enjoying some slower mornings as work winds down and the holidays start. I really love a slow morning in the kitchen with coffee and a book or good company. I believe that a kitchen should be more than just a place to prepare food, it should be a place to socialise, relax and enjoy the sights, smells and atmopshere.
I’ve always dreamt of having a kitchen corner. Here are some kitchen corners I really love and can perhaps inspire you to make your own.
From Park and Oak Design
I really like the sofa and chair combination in this room. The dark paint on the wall in the kitchen corner makes the sofa stand more out and the colour of the sofa connects to the wall colour in the kitchen. It makes it feels like it’s two rooms that are naturally connected.
From Town and Country Living
This room is light and warm with lots of natural light. The sofa and chairs have the same fabrics that connect them together. The linen cream colour on the curtains and rug brings warmth to the room.
I enjoy experimenting with opposite colours in a home. This kitchen above shows an example of this in bold orange and blue. The pillows help to connect the chairs with the beige sofa.

Here is an example of a small and casual kitchen corner. The table and chairs are simple and therefore do not take up much space. A perfect way to make a kitchen corner work if your lacking space in your kitchen.
From Home Made in Heaven
In this picture the wooden chairs are a similar colour/type of wood as the table, helping to connect the two. The same fabric is also is used on the table chairs and the sofa. In addition, the same colours are used with the curtains and flowers. I really like the balance of colour and white. It makes the corner look very light and airy, but also gives character.

This kitchen corner has a round table. This makes it easier for people to move in and out of the sofa area and makes the space more flexible. A good solution if the kitchen is an area that has a lot of movement in it.

If you like a kitchen corner to look at bit more formal, two sofas facing each other can work well. It creates more focus of what is happening on the table than the room.
From the Grit and Polish
You don’t need a lot of space to make a kitchen corner happen. If you have a window you can use this as a sofa and just add a small table and a couple of chairs.
From Home Decorly
Here is an example of a casual and more simpler kitchen corner. I really like how the design of the corner works with the rest of the room. This is probably used less for a reading area and long relaxing mornings, since there is no padding on the sofa.
From Lisa Tharp
The sofa in this kitchen corner is my favourite. It’s formal with it high back, but has comfy pillows that makes it casual at the same time. The white pillows connect well the look with the chairs, even tough the chairs have a modern look.
